What is a birth doula?
A birth doula provides physical comfort and emotional support to the birthing person before, during, and immediately following their birthing time. The birth doula will also be a resource for evidence-based information and will help the birthing person advocate for their informed decision-making power. A birth doula can also be a support for the birthing person’s partner or others invited to the birthing experience to ensure everyone has a positive memory of this amazing event.
What is a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula offers emotional and practical support during the newborn phase following a birth. The postpartum doula has training and resources to assist with understanding the needs of new babies and their parents. Postpartum doulas can also be beneficial to helping partners, siblings, and other family members (including pets!) with the transition to life with a newborn.
What is a bereavement doula?
A bereavement doula will accompany you through the journey of pregnancy or infant loss. The bereavement doula offers emotional and physical comfort and support before, during, and/or after your loss. Bereavement doulas can share and connect you with additional resources as needed. There is no charge for bereavement doula services provided by Atala Doula Services.
